DEDICATION SUITE / Featuring 3 of 10 movements
Dedication Suite honors individuals who have had a profound musical and personal influence on my life, reflecting meaningful experiences from the past to the present. Pictured above is the grand opening of the Montgomery Ward building in Anderson, Indiana—an iconic site in my family’s musical journey. This building later became Joe’s Record Shop and then Anderson Music Center, owned by my father, Larry Mechem Sr. Today, it remains in the family, owned by my brother, LJ, and serves as the home of LM Products, Inc., a successful musical accessory company founded by my father in the 1970s. This space stands as a lasting connection to the Mechem family’s musical roots.
The audio for these orchestral movements was created using Sibelius with NotePerformer, along with additional sound editing in Logic Pro. The ride cymbal and, on select movements, the concert bass drum were performed live. The clarinet solo in Jim Song was transcribed from a performance by Julian and integrated using the clarinet sound produced in NotePerformer in order to provide necessary cohesiveness.
Many thanks to Jon Herington (Steely Dan) for providing the guitar solo on Turtle Island.
This music is being presented in support of the goal to bring it to life through a live performance and recording.
