BeginninG & Intermediate Snare Drum Method Books

Hudson Music—the premier name in drum educatioN

Hudson Music has released digital editions of my Beginning and Intermediate Snare Drum Method books.

A fresh and useful snare drum method for the contemporary student and teacher.”
— Hudson Music

BEGINNING SNARE DRUM METHOD was developed over many years during my full-time teaching practice in Brooklyn, New York. Frustrated by the inconsistency of existing materials and the varied progress students were making, I set out to create a method that was both clear and progressive for students of all ability levels.

Topics in Book One include musical fundamentals, proper stick technique, rudiments, and 39 progressive reading lessons.

INTERMEDIATE SNARE DRUM METHOD continues the development of the concepts introduced in Book One. A primary focus is the Standard 26 American Drum Rudiments, integrated throughout 30 progressive lessons. The book concludes with six solos and a snare drum duet designed to apply the techniques and musical concepts developed throughout both books.

Together, the books provide a strong technical and musical foundation for advancing on snare drum, drum set, and related percussion instruments. For additional technical development, I highly recommend Stick Control by George Lawrence Stone, which serves as an excellent companion to these method books.
